The Free Bird

This artwork....I was inspired to make thanks to Maya Angelou's poem, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" [link]

We read that poem in class, and I immediately imagined this (a hybrid of a bird and a man...sort of like a harpy xD only he has no....erm, private part xD) and sketched it on the back of the hand-out.

I finally get to finish this.....I lost the motivation to do so xD This is like...a month old. It's a good thing that I got motivated these past two days xD

The wings...were.....hard to do xD (well they were just time-consuming but the look is satisfying to me ^^)

I did draw the counterpart of him....the "caged" bird. However, I don't think I have the motivation to color that....errrr....dem wings.

And oh, he's steering to the left~ xD That's why the position of his other arm is raised and the other is closer to his body xD
